About Laura
Laura Sippos is a teaching and working artist in Pittsburgh who creates a wide variety of work in all 2D mediums. She exemplifies lifelong learning, beginning in her youth at the Carnegie Museum where she was awarded a scholarship to attend the pre-college program at Carnegie Mellon University. Throughout the years she made time to attend demonstrations and courses by local artists, figure drawing sessions, online programs and recently graduated from Community College of Allegheny County at the age of 51.
Teaching art is where Laura truly comes alive. With a teaching philosophy that motivates any age to see the world in a new way, and express themselves freely, she strives to make high-quality learning accessible and enjoyable to all. It is her goal to continue to create more opportunities in the community to share her belief that anyone can create beautiful and meaningful art.
Currently Laura is an active member and instructor at McMurray Art League, and an instructor for the residents of Friendship Village Retirement Community.
Recent work has focused on creating a body of mixed media work with upcycled materials. .
